Alexis Brooks is, by nature, drawn to helping other people. Ms. Brooks proudly served as a Public Defender in Maricopa County where she honed her outstanding trial skills. While in trial group, Ms. Brooks handled over 500 felony cases. Aside from her vibrant motion practice and effective litigation style, Ms. Brooks has conducted an impressive repertoire of pretrial and evidentiary hearings including; suppression hearings, Dessureault (identity) hearings, bond hearings, and restitution hearings. While at the Public Defender?s office, Ms. Brooks was chosen to teach new attorney training classes, as well as present newly emerging areas of legal defense regarding postpartum depression and infanticide.

Ms. Brooks? has extensive trial experience litigating all ranges of felonies including:

Homicides
Aggravated assault dangerous
Gang offenses
Misconduct involving weapons
Domestic violence

Drug sales and drug possession
Burglary, Robbery, and Theft

At Hallam Law Group, Ms. Brooks has broadened her legal practice to include family law, personal injury claims, orders of protection, fingerprint clearance card applications, and motions to set aside felony convictions.

Before enrolling in law school, Ms. Brooks worked as a paralegal at a family law firm where she prepared petitions for dissolution of marriage, assisted in complex trial preparation, and managed exhibits and helped prepare witness testimony.

In law school, Ms. Brooks was honored to have the unique experience of interning for the Honorable Sherry Stephens who she respected both as a mentor and a role model. During the Jody Arias trial, Ms. Brooks observed the grace and strength displayed by a strong female judge handling complex legal issues. This rare opportunity sparked her true passion for criminal justice.

Along with her judicial clerkship, Ms. Brooks interned during summers at law school with the Maricopa County Attorney?s Office and the Maricopa County Public Defender?s Office. The opposing perspectives provided Ms. Brooks with invaluable knowledge that she is able to use to her clients? advantage in her every day legal practice.

In addition to her knowledge gained through internships and clerkships, Ms. Brooks was honored to be recognized for her exemplary writing skills when she was selected as a Senior Writing Fellow by the faculty at her law school.
