Cory Roth Law Office

My name is Cory Roth, and it would be my great honor, privilege, and responsibility to be your attorney. While the previous statement is true, it is clich?; it is something every lawyer will say. I know you have choices when it comes to picking a lawyer, so I want to tell you what sets me apart.

First and foremost, I don't trust the government and neither should you. I have learned in short time that prosecutors don't like to work, and many of them don't tell the truth. Therefore, it is my job to not accept anything that police, prosecutors, or witnesses say as truth. You wouldn't believe how many lawyers accept what others say as the truth. When lawyer's do that, you lose.

Rather, my job is to question everything everyone says. My job is to challenge the government's story, challenge the law, and tell your story of innocence. I am a client centered and trial ready lawyer. Therefore I want clients who want to take their cases to trial, yet I will never tell you whether to take your case to trial or take a plea deal. As a trial lawyer, the only thing I can do is tell you how I foresee your case playing out. The key to my great success rate is that I work harder, longer, and smarter than many other lawyers.

As a "true believer," I know that the system is heavily skewed against the criminally accused, and I passionately fight against the system every single day. In the same token, I take great pride in helping my clients better themselves. Moreover, I am able to send messages to the jury in terms they can understand and agree with, whether they are liberal or conservative.

Second, I am proud to never have been a prosecutor, therefore you can never question my allegiance and devotion to you. While I am friendly with prosecutors, I don't have to worry about personal relationships with my friends on the other side of the table. I don't have an eye on one day being a prosecutor. My entire professional life is devoted to fighting the government. This also transfers over to my personal injury practice: I don't trust the large corporations and insurance companies that are out to screw you over, just like the prosecutors in this state.

Above all, I am motivated to win. Years of competitive collegiate and international soccer taught me that in order to win, I need to work harder than my opponents. The justice system isn't just a soccer game though, your freedom is at stake, which, in my opinion is why you don't want to trust someone who touts themselves as "a former prosecutor." Former prosecutors were brainwashed into dehumanizing people just like you. I believe that if you trust me to fight for you, we can fight to win, and fight to change the system.

My father is a lawyer, and as a child, I thought he had one of the coolest jobs in the world, but I never put too much though into being a lawyer myself. Instead, I was focused on soccer, hockey, and acting. As an elite athlete, playing domestically and abroad, I harnessed my competitive nature, and learned the values of practice and asking questions. As an actor, I learned how to connect with people by telling a compelling story. All of these experiences have given me the ?the talent' to be a Trial Lawyer.

I grew up in Houston. I was a member of the first full graduating class of Cornerstone Academy, and the second full graduating class of Westside High School. I then attended the University of Texas at Dallas where I was twice the leading scorer of the soccer team, played in the NCAA Tournament, board member of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, and Three-Time Academic All-Conference. I then attended Nova Southeastern University for law school where I was twice on the Dean's List, twice a member of the Bedell Mock Trial Team, and received the Book Award for having the highest grade in Advanced Trial Advocacy.

My first legal job was working at my father's personal injury firm in the summer of 2008. While in law school, I clerked at the prestigious and nationally recognized Ammons Law Firm where I worked on multi-million dollar product liability and personal injury cases resulting from tire defects, roll-overs, truck crashes, car crashes, and oil-field negligence. I was so successful, that Mr. Ammons invited me to continue working at his firm for an entire semester of my last year of law school. After taking the Texas Bar Exam, I spent four months interning at the Harris County Public Defender's Officer where I worked with trial attorneys, appellate attorneys, and investigators on cases ranging from murders and sexual assaults to drug cases and theft. While at the PD, I helped win a not guilty on a murder trial, and a minimum sentence on an aggravated sexual assault of a child case.

After passing the Texas and Florida Bar Exams, I decided to start Cory Roth Law Office to help people in tough situations by providing compassionate, intelligent, aggressive client centered and trial ready legal representation. Things started out great. Within my first few weeks on the job, I wrote a legal brief in a Federal human trafficking case that won my client's freedom. I next racked up a few dismissals before winning my very first trial, a felony sex case. I then won my first two motions to suppress and won several more dismissals for my clients. If you or a loved one has been or might be charged with a crime, and you are looking for a lawyer that is not afraid to take your case to trial, you need to call me for a free consultation. Cory Roth Law Office strives for excellence. Our office is well-furnished and conveniently located in Montrose Museum District Area off Highway 59.

As a member of the College of The State Bar of Texas, I am one of the best trained lawyers in the state. The law and techniques needed to win cases are always changing. That's why I think you are a fool to hire a lawyer who does not continually learn about the law every year. I take great pride in attending as many continuing education courses as I can, because in return, you get a smarter lawyer who is more likely to get you a better result. In addition to training, I am a member of the Gideon's Promise and Future Appointed Counsel Training programs. I was one of just ten lawyers selected for these programs in Houston in 2014, and one of just 60 across the nation. Through these programs not only do I receive top notch training in how to be a client centered criminal defense trial lawyer, but I have also created an extensive network of mentors locally and across the country. My mentors are some of the best lawyers around, and someone is always available to help guide me through any situation. So while I may be a young lawyer, I can always pick the brain of very experienced and successful lawyers, and this is a resource that most lawyers do not have.
