David Perecman
The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C.
New York,

One of New York City’s Leading Personal Injury Attorneys

For over 40 years, David H. Perecman has distinguished himself as one of the leading personal injury lawyers in New York City, championing all types of personal injury cases including construction accidents, premises accidents, automobile accidents, and medical malpractice, along with employment discrimination, false arrest, and civil rights cases.

He has won hundreds of millions of dollars for his clients over the course of his career and has led The Perecman Firm P.L.L.C. to be recognized by the highly coveted and competitive U.S. News and World Report’s Best Law Firms in America for the past eight years in a row.

Founder of The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C.

From the beginning of his legal career, Mr. Perecman has proven himself to be a skilled and tenacious New York City personal injury lawyer and trial lawyer. He founded what eventually became The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C. in 1983 after winning a landmark $600,000 verdict against the now-defunct department store Gimbels for falsely detaining an elderly woman when an anti-theft device set off the alarm. Since then, he has taken dozens of personal injury cases to verdict and settled many more mid-trial.

In every year since 2005, Mr. Perecman has been published in the New York Law Journal’s Top Verdicts and Settlements list. In 2014, Mr. Perecman secured a landmark $9.9 million settlement for a construction worker, listed as the highest construction accident settlement in New York State that year and the second highest settlement overall. He has become one of the top personal injury lawyers in New York City by combining extensive and relentless preparation with first-class litigation skills in order to achieve winning results.

He starts planning his strategy as soon as a case comes in the door. Whether before a judge or a jury, he spares no expense in employing first-rate experts and cutting-edge technology to great persuasive effect. The personal injury verdicts he obtains are often double, triple, and or even many multiples of the settlement offers made by the defense prior to and during trial.

“Every case has its weaknesses,” Mr. Perecman says. “It is the job of a good personal injury lawyer to turn those weaknesses in strengths or to blow them out of the water.”

Education, Recognition, Honors & Associations

Mr. Perecman serves on the executive committee and the board of directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA), a prestigious lawyers’ association and was their former treasurer and secretary. In 2005 and for years after, Mr. Perecman, as a highly experienced New York construction accident lawyer, was chosen by NYSTLA to chair their Labor Law (construction accident) committee.

Respected in his field, Mr. Perecman has been trusted over many years by NYSTLA’s teaching arm to educate other lawyers on construction accident litigation. He has also lectured about construction accident law for court personnel and has served as a commentator on Court TV. He is licensed to practice in U.S. Supreme Court, New York State, and the U.S. District courts for the Southern and Eastern districts of NY.

Mr. Perecman has earned numerous awards and accolades for his work. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers®, The Best Lawyers in America®, and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum®. Most recently, he was named a Best Lawyers 2022 “Lawyer of the Year” in Personal Injury Litigation - Plaintiffs in Long Island.

With a career of successful results, Mr. Perecman has secured many multi-million dollar settlements and jury verdicts included in the New York Law Journal’s annual “Top Verdicts and Settlements” list. In 2014, his settlement of a construction worker’s injury case for $9,900,000.00 was listed as the highest settlement that year in New York State in the construction accident category and the second highest settlement in the state in all injury categories.

His successes brought him to the limelight recently in his representation of a woman who sued Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy of the Soprano’s) for assault and more recently for his role in the search and representation of “Avonte” Oquendo, the 14 year old autistic child who was allowed to wander out of school and was eventually found deceased in the East River.

Mr. Perecman actively participated in the efforts to have “Avonte’s Law” passed on a city wide and federal level and remains active politically in the fight to keep New York State’s worker safety laws strong.
