At the Law Offices of David L. Powell, I understand that every client has a unique case. Our experienced staff works tirelessly to ensure that you stay fully informed on the important matters in your case.
I have successfully represented countless clients facing felony and misdemeanor charges. Being underrepresented can cost you years of you life and thousands of dollars in fines and legal fees. You need to make sure you choose the right criminal defense advocate to have on your side. I will work from bond hearing throughout the resolution of your case to ensure you obtain the best possible outcome.
I grew up in a small rural community in Northeast Arkansas. I spent much of my youth traveling and camping as a boy scout, playing for the school basketball and tennis teams, and performing as a percussionist in the high school band. After high school I attended Arkansas State University where I majored in English and was member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. I was also a member and rush chairman of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. While at ASU, I obtained my B.A. in English and decided on pursuing a career in the legal field.
In 2007 I received an academic scholarship to attend law school at Barry University in Orlando, Florida. I later transferred to complete my final year of law school in 2010 at UALR in Little Rock. I was admitted to practice law in Arkansas in 2011.
I started my career as a solo attorney in my home town. I worked as a general practitioner which provided valuable experience in several areas of law. After a couple of years I accepted a position working at Wilson and Associates in Little Rock. In early 2014 I moved to the Fort Smith area to take a full-time position as deputy public defender in Crawford County. The majority of my caseload was in areas of felony defense and juvenile court. From countless bond hearings, motion hearings, bench and jury trials, I represented well over a thousand court-appointed clients.
I believe you can’t really call it “work” if you enjoy what you do. I opened this firm with a focus on helping my clients navigate through some of the most stressful times of their lives. Whether you need someone experienced in the area of criminal defense, divorce, child custody, personal injury or other legal matter, I’m here to help.
Throughout my years of practice I’ve been dedicated to my clients. I’ve been devoted to helping them obtain the best possible outcome to their legal matters. I’m available day or night and will take the time to meet with clients after hours and on weekends.
