Ever since middle school, I wanted to be a lawyer. When I was a young child my mother underwent an innovative back surgery where an enzyme called Chymopapain was injected into ta herniated disc to relieve the pressure on a nerve. My mother’s surgery failed as did so many others. The manufacturer discontinued the production and sale of Chymopapain in 2001. Her back continued to degenerate and other surgical procedures failed. She eventually lost most of the use of her legs and became wheelchair bound. Whether her poor outcome was due to a defective product or an unnecessary surgery is open to debate. What is not open to debate is that defective medical products and unsuccessful medical procedures often lead to devastating problems that last a lifetime.
In college I majored in economics and philosophy. Philosophy is about understanding why something is right or wrong. While, economics is the force that makes companies constantly improve their products and practices. Personal injury lawyers put the costs of bad conduct on the balance sheets of those responsible. If bad conduct costs more, you will get less of it.
I have a sincere belief that my work plays a part in improving the lives of my clients while inspiring doctors and companies to make changes for the better. The manufacturer’s decision to discontinue production and sales of Chymopapain may have been inspired by the work of medical malpractice lawyers. Our profession operates as an alarm that encourages the discontinuation of dangerous medical products and poor medical care.
Although, you want a lawyer who cares about you and the dignified pursuit of your case you want to know that your lawyer has the skill and experience to succeed.

Early in George Patterson's career as an attorney hired by several major insurance companies, he obtained dozens of defense verdicts in personal injury jury trials. As a young lawyer a National Trucking company hired George Patterson to immediately go to the scene of a trucking accident involving multiple fatalities. On the eastern shore of Maryland an 80,000-pound truck proceeded through heavy fog crashing at full speed into dozens of cars that had safely stopped for a red light. The injuries and property damage were catastrophic. My job was to investigate the accident and to look for any liability issues to assist the trucking company with the inevitable suits. The trucking company knew it was critical to get to the evidence quickly, in most car accidents this is far less important. Lawyer George Patterson has built on this experience to properly present plaintiffs' claims and to avoid tactical mistakes made by plaintiffs' attorneys. George Patterson knows there are a different set of rules, tactics and approaches that must be taken in a commercial motor vehicle accident.
