James Chiles is an experienced criminal defense trial lawyer dedicated to excellence.
He received his bachelor’s degree in communications from University of Oklahoma where he was the President of the Policy Debate Team and became the National Debate Tournament quarter finalist. Mr. Chiles graduated from SMU Dedman School of Law where his primary focus was Criminal Law and Litigation. Mr. Chiles was in Moot Court, Mock Trial, Negotiations, and Closing Statements Competitions. Mr. Chiles was also a Dean’s Scholarship Recipient. During law school, Mr. Chiles was a Post-Bar Intern, for the Federal Public Defender, Northern District of Texas, Capital Habeas Unit.
After receiving his law degree, Mr. Chiles worked as a zealous criminal defense attorney representing hundreds of clients. Mr. Chiles has extensive trial experience handling misdemeanor offenses to felonies including drug charges, assaults, aggravated sexual assault, and continuous sexual assault of a child.
Mr. Chiles is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is licensed to practice law in all Texas State Courts, most recently being admitted to the Federal Court Eastern District of Texas.
