Jeremy leads the Personal Injury and Wrongful Death practice. He has extensive experience litigating claims for wrongful death, serious personal injury, and a broad range of civil litigation before state and federal courts, including cases involving vehicle accidents, professional malpractice, premises liability, products liability, and class actions, among other areas. He has also litigated numerous cases involving complex insurance coverage issues.
In addition, Jeremy represents clients in business litigation cases, having represented numerous entities (from small area businesses, to financial institutions, to large corporations) in matters including contract and intellectual property disputes. He also has extensive experience with trusts and estates litigation and eminent domain cases.
Jeremy has represented clients in all phases of litigation, including jury and bench trials, arbitrations, mediations, hearings, depositions, and appeals before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Representation of injured driver who suffered an L1 compression fracture and related injuries. Wake County jury trial in which $400,000 was awarded to the injured party. (The highest pre-suit offer had been $50,000.)

What I Admire Most About My Clients
I frequently represent clients facing tremendous challenges?such as individuals who have suffered serious personal injuries or other loss. What I admire most is the strength they demonstrate in these very difficult situations.
The best thing about Ward and Smith is the people. We have great, capable attorneys, paralegals, and other staff who are smart, funny, and work their tails off for our clients and each other.
Before graduate school, I taught high school math for two years?first in Houston, Texas and then in Vance County, North Carolina. I taught through the Teach For America program, which places recent college graduates as teachers in high-need school districts throughout the United States.
My wife is a high school English teacher. We have a daughter named Addie and a labrador retriever named Scout.
One surprising thing people don't know about me is that my favorite holiday is "Shark Week."
If I could live anywhere, I would most like to live in Wilmington, NC. I'm a Wilmington native, as is my wife. It's a great place to live and raise a family.
