Mikayla S. Hamilton is a former Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago and a former civil litigator in Chicago. As an Assistant Corporation Counsel, Ms. Hamilton defended Chicago Police Officers in federal civil rights cases. Ms. Hamilton has successfully tried federal jury trials to verdict and has obtained dismissals and summary judgment rulings in favor of her clients. She has extensive criminal and civil litigation experience in state, federal, and tribal courts. Ms. Hamilton has specialized expertise in Title IX and school misconduct cases, both as an investigator for the schools and as an advisor for those under investigation. In addition, she has a wide range of experience in cases involving civil rights, breach of fiduciary duties, education law, and investigating claims under the Controlled Substances Act and the Mandatory Victims Restitution Act.
