Ralph 'Andrew' McKinney
Pepper & Odom, P.C. - Birmingham

Andrew McKinney has always worked with lawyers and law firms representing those that were injured by the carelessness or disregard of others.

While attending college, he worked in the law offices of E. Ray Large, a prominent Alabama trial lawyer and president of the Birmingham Bar Association.

It was there that he learned the importance of representing everyday people against the greed and thoughtlessness of large corporations and insurance companies.

Following law school, Andrew McKinney went to work with Robert “Coach” Hayes, another preeminent and well-respected trial lawyer in Birmingham.

He again learned first-hand the need for lawyers that will stand up to those that would take advantage of the misfortunes of others.

While at UAB, he received an invitation to join the Pi Sigma Alpha national honor society and served as president of the UAB chapter during his senior year. Andrew also competed on UAB’s nationally recognized mock trial team.

During his senior year, he was lead attorney and team captain from 1996 through 1998 and named best attorney in the southeast at regional competition.

Following a consist run of his name being posted on the Dean’s list and President’s list throughout college, he graduated with honor in 1998.

In 2001, Andrew McKinney received his law degree from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. While at Loyola, he worked with the Gillis Long Poverty Law Center, assisting indigent clients with various legal matters.

Additionally, the school’s acclaimed moot court program gave Andrew an invitation to join.

During his attendance, he conducted extensive research on toxic torts and authored a paper on the environmental damage inflicted on the land along the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge known as “cancer alley”.

After graduating from law school, Andrew returned to Birmingham and began an internship with Birmingham Legal Aid while preparing for the bar exam.

After his admittance to the Alabama State Bar, he went into practice with the law firm of Robert “Coach” Hayes, specializing in personal injury litigation.
