ATTORNEY | SOUTH CAROLINA INJURY LAWYER
Workers’ Compensation, Personal Injury
I primarily practice in workers’ compensation law. That is about 85 percent of my cases. Over the past year, I’ve also been doing more personal injury.
What I’ve taken from my clients is how to be a better listener so that I better understand their life and their situation. Then I use that information to represent each client more effectively.
What inspired you to become an attorney?
I’ve always wanted to be an attorney. I’ve enjoyed being able to make an educated argument to help others. I always had a passion for being a lawyer.
What do you want a personal injury victim to come away with after the initial meeting with you?
The most important thing that I want my clients to feel is that their attorney is prepared and that there is a plan in place. I want them to know that their attorney is ready to fight for them. I want them to know I’m willing to talk and listen. When clients leave that first meeting, I want them to know their attorney understands the case, and I’m putting a formal plan in place. I want them to know they’ve hired an attorney, and I’m the one that is going to be doing a lot of the work. Their sole focus truly does need to be on just getting better.
What is the most satisfying aspect of being a personal injury or workers’ comp attorney?
You’ll have a client or the client’s wife who calls and thanks you. That’s when you realize, “I’m not a doctor and I can’t fix the injuries, but I made their life a little bit easier. I’ve helped them get through a really difficult time in their life.” That in and of itself is rewarding — knowing you’ve done something right for them.
