Scott Patrick Brand joined the Brudvik Law Office in 2013 and specializes in criminal defense. Prior to joining Brudvik Law, Scott worked as a judicial law clerk for the Northwest Judicial District of North Dakota. As a judicial law clerk, Scott assisted the seven judges of the Northwest Judicial District in a wide variety of cases, including criminal trials, quiet title actions, oil and gas cases, administrative appeals, and civil suits.
Scott grew up on a farm near West Fargo, North Dakota. In 2005, Scott took a break from his undergraduate studies at the University of North Dakota (UND) and joined the Minnesota Army National Guard. Scott served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, being deployed in 2006. In 2007, Scott returned from his deployment and finished his undergraduate education at UND. While at UND, Scott became an officer of Pi Sigma Alpha, an honors society for college students who study political science. As an officer of Pi Sigma Alpha, he and other students organized a campus-wide effort to provide students with non-partisan information regarding where and when to vote in the 2008 election. Scott graduated from UND with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 2009 and spent the summer after graduation working for Senator Byron Dorgan in Washington, D.C.
Scott earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2012, graduating magna cum laude. While at UND, Scott participated in Moot Court, Law Review, and was instrumental in the re-founding of the Environmental Law Society. Under his leadership, the Environmental Law Society undertook numerous community service projects, including cleaning the English Coulee on UND's campus and planting 70 trees and shrubs inside the Grand Forks Greenway. In recognition of his contributions, Scott was awarded the Lillian Elsinga Outstanding Student Leader Award and the Memorial Union Leadership Scholarship in 2012.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys watching UND Hockey and Minnesota Twins baseball, playing softball and golf in the summer, and traveling.
