Shelby’s long history with motorcycles started in Michigan as a small child when his father would put him on the handlebars of his motorcycle and ride around on open back roads. He has been riding ever since. At age 6, he graduated to a small Yamaha dirt bike, then a Honda NT650 Hawk GT at 14. He gained a lot of early experience in his backyard, hugging corners and learning to steer with the rear. By the time he turned 16 he was riding his father’s Harley on the street and his passion for riding was ingrained for life. Today, you can find him riding the canyons on his Road Glide Special.
Shelby attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law where he graduated cum laude. Ever the non-traditionalist, he studied International Law at Peking University in Beijing, China for a semester to see the world before graduation (where he never saw so many riders on one motorcycle before in his life.) Prior to receiving his law degree, Shelby received his Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Business Law from the University of Michigan.
With his strong background in litigation and his athletic riding style, Shelby is a natural fit for Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys. Dedicating his entire career to plaintiff personal injury work, Shelby West most enjoys helping riders overcome legal challenges, because they often face complex situations. He finds great satisfaction in helping them recover–physically and financially–and conquer the odds.
