Thomas N. Beckom joined Eglet Adams as an Associate Attorney in September 2018. His practice primarily focuses on catastrophic injury law with the litigation team at Eglet Adams. Thomas is experienced in all levels of the litigation process from initial case analysis, drafting of complaints, engaging in the discovery process, trial and appellate work and has obtained successful results in all levels of litigation from pre-trial negotiations, discovery work, trial and in appeals.
Prior to joining the litigation team at Eglet Adams, Thomas worked at a law firm for a prominent former Las Vegas politician who hired him during law school as a law clerk and then as an attorney right out of law school. While at that firm, Thomas practiced in many different areas of law. Thomas assisted individuals, investors, and small businesses that experienced financial catastrophe during the 2008 Financial Crisis and assisted multiple individuals through the bankruptcy reorganization process in order to get their lives back on the right track. He confirmed multiple complex Chapter 11 reorganization plans for real estate investors and small businesses and helped people save their homes as well as jobs for their employees.
In addition, Thomas gained experience in catastrophic personal injury litigation and insurance bad faith litigation. He counseled and assisted clients in paying for their medical needs and obtaining recovery in everything from Medical Malpractice cases to horrific motorcycle accidents even when insurance companies had disputed or denied claims from his injured clients.
Thomas also gained several years of experience as a defense attorney for large multi-national businesses in a wide variety of lawsuits stemming from negligence style actions, real estate disputes, and lawsuits under Federal Law with successful results. Thomas has litigated before every major Court in Nevada and has received favorable judgments, settlements, and opinions from the 8th Judicial District Court in Nevada, the Nevada Federal District Court, the Nevada Supreme Court, and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Thomas earned his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas Boyd School of Law and immediately thereafter passed the Nevada State Bar Exam. He also holds a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nevada Las Vegas as well as a B.A. in Music Education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Thomas moved to Las Vegas in 2002 from Richmond, Virginia and spent several years as a local Elementary School Music Teacher in the Las Vegas Valley for the Clark County School District prior to becoming an attorney. Thomas still avidly enjoys playing music and plays the piano, guitar, bass, and even the banjo. As a single parent, Thomas especially enjoys spending time with his daughter as well as playing electric bass in a local cover band.
