Thomas D. Bumgardner grew up in his father’s law firm offices. “I remember as a little kid watching my dad work with people who came in the office crying or just out of the doctor’s office,” says Thomas. “My dad had a way of listening and understanding people’s stories on how they were injured or how their relationship had fallen apart. I knew that I wanted to be a lawyer from a very young age.”
Thomas has represented individuals and businesses alike for several years and has a passion for helping his clients find justice and resolution in the legal system. Throughout his career, he has prided himself on providing his clients with personalized representation and dependable legal guidance.
After earning his undergraduate degree with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Thomas attended Stetson University College of Law to pursue his dream of being a lawyer. He earned many honors in law school, including the Victor O. Wehle Trial Advocacy Award and the William F. Bleus Pro Bono Service Award.
Since graduating, Thomas has experienced great success in his law career. He has served as an attorney of record in numerous complex civil matters and has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his clients. He has also successfully represented business in regulatory actions brought by the State of North Carolina, in negotiating commercial leases and in collecting deficient accounts. He is currently a member of the North Carolina State Bar, Secretary of the Gaston County Bar Association and a member of the South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church. Thomas and his wife welcomed their first child in February of 2014.
“I don’t know yet if my newborn daughter wants to be a lawyer like her daddy, but I do know that I have the same passion for practicing law and helping people through difficult times in their lives just like my dad did,” adds Thomas.
