Ty Stimpson is a 6th generation Texas native who grew up in Arlington, Texas, where he and Travis went to high school together. Ty received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University, where he also played on the Baylor football team. Intrigued by the law and the role it played in his community, Ty attended Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University. Upon receiving his Juris Doctor degree,

Ty moved to New York to attend St. John’s University School of Law where he received his Masters of Law degree while working for the National Football League.

Ty began his legal career at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney. While with Dallas County, Ty was named Chief of his assigned court. In addition to being chief trial prosecutor and overseeing thousands of cases, Ty was responsible for training fellow Assistant Criminal District Attorneys and training local law enforcement agencies.

Prior to joining Patterson Law Group, Ty was an Assistant Criminal District Attorney with the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, where he served in the White Collar Public Integrity Division, Elder Financial Fraud Division, and the Intimate Partner Violence Division. Ty has handled an array of cases including capital murder, aggravated assault, sexual assault, misapplication of fiduciary property, construction fraud, and identity theft, among other things. While with Tarrant County, Ty became a leading legal expert in mental health laws where he worked to reform how mental health cases are handled in the Tarrant County criminal justice system.

Ty played an integral part in the creation of Tarrant County’s first Mental Health Jail Diversion Center.

Working as a chief prosecutor in two of the largest counties in the United States, Ty has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in trial advocacy and legal strategy. Ty has managed thousands of cases from intake to disposition with successful resolution whether it be a negotiation and settlement or a jury trial. Spearheading several jury trials, Ty has managed all aspects of trial work, including case evaluation; timely writing and filing motions; preparing witnesses; arguing against countless oral and written defense motions; conducting voir dire; on-stand witness management through use of valid objections; directing and crossing witnesses (both expert and fact witnesses); and arguing effectively at opening and closing arguments for the State of Texas. Appearing in District Courts and representing the State of Texas has helped Ty better understand the intricacies of litigation and trial strategy, while also protecting the interests of clients.

Spending almost nine years as a trial attorney, Ty is well-versed in guiding individuals and families through the legal process during the most difficult times in their lives, often after a traumatic event or the tragic loss of a loved one. Ty understands the burdens the legal process can place on families and uses his legal and counseling skills to help his clients recover.

As Texas natives, Ty and his family have been serving the North Texas community for generations. Ty is an active member in the Tarrant County Bar Association, L. Clifford Davis Legal Association, Rotary Club of Downtown Fort Worth, former Chair of the Criminal Justice Committee of the City of Fort Worth Race and Culture Task Force, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Ty currently serves as the Board Chair for LVT Rise, a project dedicated to supporting Fort Worth’s Las Vegas Trail community.

In addition, Ty is also heavily involved in his community as a board member of the Tarrant Area Food Bank, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Tarrant County, Arts Fort Worth, Project 4031, the advisory board for the Young Men’s Leadership Academy of Fort Worth and is a graduate of the 2019 Leadership Fort Worth Class. Ty has been named a “Top Attorney” by Fort Worth magazine every year since 2017. Ty is a lifelong advocate for justice and isn’t afraid to be a voice for those in need.

In his spare time, Ty enjoys playing golf and attending live sporting events. Ty is married to his beautiful wife Jordan, who is also an attorney in Fort Worth. The Stimpsons have two children, an angel son, William Fitzgerald, and daughter, Wyatt Frances, and their Goldendoodle, “Ro.” We’re happy to welcome Ty to the Patterson Law Group attorney team!
