The Law Office of Amir Hagoo was opened in 2013, specializing in premium legal services for criminal defense and immigration related matters. Amir’s immigration specialties include removal hearings, asylum applications, immigrant and non-immigrant visa applications and immigration waivers. Amir regularly volunteers his time and provides a Pathway to Residency seminar to international students on an annual basis. In 2017, Amir partnered with Hussein Sony El Rashidy to open the EH Law Firm L.L.P. and provide clients, both existing and new, with a number of additional services to those already offered.

Amir Hagoo graduated in 2004 with an Honors Degree in political science from York University, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He then attended the St. Thomas University Law School in Miami, Florida. This prospect brought much excitement to Amir, not only because he had a passion for the law. But, it gave him the opportunity to escape the fluctuating temperatures in Toronto and experience warm tropical weather year round.

Amir graduated from Law School in 2007. He became a Member of the Florida Bar the same year and immediately entered the legal profession.

His passion for criminal defense and immigration law landed him a position with the Broward County Public Defender’s Office. While there, he served from 2008 through 2012. Amir immediately began to hone his motion practice and trial skills as a criminal defense lawyer. He has handled over a thousand misdemeanor, juvenile, and felony cases from investigation to trial by judge or jury. Amir has taken well over 50 trials to verdict, argued pre-trial evidentiary motions, and bond motions. He defended post-conviction matters, including violations of probation and motions to vacate, and was involved in many cases at the “pre-file,” or case-filing stage. Amir has been successful in achieving exemplary results for his clients. Many of which at the “pre-file” stage, often resulted in charges never being filed.

Amir Hagoo has a personal connection and self-proclaimed duty to immigration law. Being an immigrant himself, he has first-hand experience in navigating the complex and daunting American immigration system. Having no immigration status after graduating law school, he personally managed to obtain a temporary status. This allowed him to stay in the US for a total of six years until he received his green card. Amir was naturalized as a U.S citizen after residing in the US for more than 13 years. Citizen. He is extremely proud to be a dual citizen of, what he believes are, “The two best countries in the world – Canada and the United States.”

In 2016, Amir became a licensed member of the Law Society of Ontario (LSO). He was now allowed to provide legal services to people interested in immigrating to Canada as well as the US.

Amir enjoys spending time and travelling with his wife, son, and his dog. He also enjoys Florida Panthers hockey games but is a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Amir is a master on the grill and relishes barbecuing with family, friends and his favorite clients.
