Anna R. Lindemann’s passion throughout her academic and professional careers has been the practice of criminal defense and providing zealous legal representation to all defendants. She has handled countless adult and juvenile matters throughout Northern Virginia, the greater Fredericksburg area, as well as the Northern Neck. Ms. Lindemann has successfully litigated all stages of criminal proceedings from pretrial motions to jury trials to sentencing hearings for all criminal offenses from possession of marijuana to murder.    Ms. Lindemann was raised by an Air Force colonel and a multilingual teacher, and had the incredible fortune to grow up in many states and countries. From an early age, Ms. Lindemann was dedicated to public service, working with children, and embracing new cultures. Ms. Lindemann believes that the diligent work of defense attorneys is essential to ensure the fair treatment of all individuals and the dignity of our criminal justice system.    Her law career began in high school when she competed in her first mock trial competition and followed her first order from a judge: to become a lawyer. Throughout her academic career, Ms. Lindemann has participated in every level of oral advocacy trial and appellate court competitions, winning competitions within her law school and as a member of her school’s traveling National Trial Team. She has also coached undergraduate and law school mock trial students.    After graduating from the University of Mary Washington with degrees in Political Science as president of Pi Sigma Alpha (National Political Science Honor Society), and a member of Phi Alpha Theta (National History Honor Society) Ms. Lindemann graduated from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts with Pro Bono Honors as a member of the Defender’s legal practice clinic, representing indigent defendants in Boston.  While in law school she also worked for the Homicide Unit in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, as a clerk for the Honorable David H. Beck in the Spotsylvania Circuit Court, and as a Third Year Practice student attorney in both Massachusetts and Virginia. As a fellow with the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, Ms. Lindemann taught constitutional law to high school students.    Ms. Lindemann previously worked for Livesay & Myers, P.C. practicing exclusively criminal law before joining the Office of the Public Defender in Fredericksburg, Virginia where she had the good fortune to meet Ms. Rebecca Favret. Following her tenure at the Office of the Public Defender, Ms. Lindemann worked for Mark Gardner and Ghislaine Storr Burks in Spotsylvania, Virginia before joining Bowen, Clements & Favret.    Ms. Lindemann has been acknowledged by the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys as one of the “10 Best Attorneys in Client Satisfaction†in 2018 and in 2019. Also in 2019 she was recognized by the National Trial Lawyers as one of the “Top 40 Under 40 Criminal Defense Attorneys.†She currently serves as a member of the Charitable Giving Committee for the Fredericksburg Bar Association. She also serves as the defense attorney for the Northern Neck and Essex Adult Drug Treatment Court team and a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters.    Ms. Lindemann is an active member of the United States Lighthouse Society and in her spare time enjoys traveling to lighthouses with her friends and family.
