Carl David Ceder, Attorney at Law, is a Dallas-Fort Worth criminal defense attorney who has dedicated his practice to criminal defense. Carl has conducted a wide variety of criminal jury trials, at both the misdemeanor and felony level, working hard to achieve a very high rate of success. He has conducted criminal jury trials, as lead counsel, in 11 different counties in the State of Texas, and is always ready and willing to pick a jury on a moment’s notice. Carl is proud of his track record of success with obtaining favorable results following jury trial, and has obtained acquittals ("Not Guilty") verdicts in numerous counties, including multiple in a row in some which are commonly known to be the most notoriously “toughest on crime” in Texas. He has obtained a certificate of completion for the NHTSA/International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor Course. Carl also has completed and been awarded, on three separate occasions, certificates of completion for the NHTSA/International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Practitioner Course (with two additional practitioner update courses beyond the original certificate of completion). He also obtained a certificate of completion for the NHTSA/International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Advanced Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) course, qualified through the “ARIDE” Program (Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement). Carl also has obtained a certificate of completion for the course, “Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN): Vision Science Perspectives” awarded by Dr. Steve Rubenzer, which was advanced training in how to properly conduct the “HGN” Standardized Field Sobriety Test. He also obtained Breath Test Operator Certification by completing the “Breath Alcohol Technician Course” of the Intoxilyzer 5000EN, according to the United States Department of Transportation Code Federal Regulations 49 Part 40, taught and awarded by Dr. Jan Semenoff. Carl also has completed advanced coursework in the Intoxilyer 9000, which is now the main evidentiary breath testing device used in Texas.
Carl also completed as required to earn the designation of the ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist certificates of completion for coursework in Forensic Chromatography: Theory & Practice (in 2015 and 2017(, Forensic Analysis of Solid Drugs, and Forensic Principles of DUID, issued by Axion Analytical Labs in Chicago, IL. and sponsored by the American Chemical Society, Chemistry and the Law division.
Carl is an active member in the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association (TCDLA), the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association (DCDLA), the Collin County Bar Association, the Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association (3CDLA), the National College of DUI Defense (NCDD), he is a “Founding Member” of the of the Driving Under The Influence Lawyer’s Association (DUIDLA).
Carl is a fifth-generation Texan and is proud to live in the state where he was born and raised. Carl graduated salutatorian (2nd out of 436 students) from Austin Lanier High School, and perhaps his proudest accomplishment is starting both ways on his varsity football team, including playing on the 1998 26-4A district champion Lanier Vikings. Carl is also the proud son of a former Austin area Texas High School Football Coach. He believes that many of the same fundamentals that lead to success on the football field (discipline, work ethic, and preparation) also apply to winning in the courtroom.
