Dan Hoffman specializes in representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases, with a specialty in handling serious injury, wrongful death and traumatic brain injury cases.  During his tenure at Lee & Associates Dan has been a member of a team of professionals who have successfully assisted clients in obtaining several seven and eight figure settlements and verdicts.  Dan was honored to be selected by the National Trial Lawyers Association as one of the Top 100 Trial Attorneys.  Dan was also honored to be selected as one of Southern California’s Top Attorneys, and he has been designated by his peers as a Super Lawyer and he has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) for many years.  Dan has attempted to give back to the judicial system by serving on a pro bono basis as a mediator and as an arbitrator for the Los Angeles Superior Courts for over 20 years, during which time he successfully resolved a large number of cases.

During his career Dan has obtained several million dollar and multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts on behalf of his clients.  Dan has successfully handled several large complex cases, insurance bad faith claims, personal injury claims, insurance coverage claims on behalf of plaintiffs and construction defect claims.  Mr. Hoffman has successfully represented international clients in high exposure personal injury cases and heavy equipment accidents.

Mr. Hoffman has litigated cases in state and federal courts, having represented California wardens in federal court cases and assisted with religious freedom cases in federal courts on a pro bono basis.  Mr. Hoffman has also assisted clients in federal court in Americans with Disabilities Act cases and in  insurance bad faith cases.

Dan recently settled a case for $10 million on behalf of a young girl who was standing on a corner when an accident occurred in the intersection, causing one of the cars to strike his 19 year old client who was standing on the street corner.  Utilizing a structured settlement the value of the final payout is expected to have a value of almost $30 million.

Dan also successfully settled an insurance coverage/bad faith case on behalf of his client for $7.25 million.  The insurance company initially denied coverage, but ultimately conceded coverage on the claim and, after a long battle regarding the amount of damages, the insurance company agreed to pay $7.25 million to resolve the claim.

Dan was also able to resolve a case for a young boy who ate lead based paint in Section 8 housing for a confidential seven figure settlement, as well as several property damage insurance claims for seven figure settlements.

Dan was co-counsel on a case with Lee & Associates in Van Nuys last year where an elderly man had his foot run over by a bus.  The jury awarded $2.5 million solely for pain and suffering and the case is currently on appeal based upon a claim of an excessive award of damages by the jury.

Dan was co-counsel on another case with Lee & Associates in downtown Los Angeles where the jury awarded $7 million solely for pain and suffering in a case where a pedestrian was struck by a bus.  Plaintiff elected to waive economic damages in the case because the plaintiff was not in the United States legally.

Prior to joining Lee & Associates Mr. Hoffman was the managing attorney for a 30 attorney law firm which had an excellent litigation record.  Mr. Hoffman was a member of an international law firm where he was the high exposure trial attorney for the Los Angeles office.

After high school Dan elected to serve in the United States Army.  During his tenure in the service he served as part of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) corps and he was stationed along the DMZ border of North and South Korea as part of the Second Infantry Division.
