Daniel L. Hightower founded Daniel L. Hightower, P.A. in 1987. The firm specializes in Personal Injury, Wrongful Death, Workers’ Compensation and Social Security Disability.
Mr. Hightower was born and raised in Lakeland, Polk County, Florida, graduated from Lakeland High School and attended Stetson University in Deland where he earned a B.A. degree in history. He went on to attend Stetson Law School in St. Petersburg, earning his Juris Doctorate degree. While there he was elected as a Justice to the Honor Court and appointed to the Stetson Law Review Board.
After graduating from Stetson Law School in 1973, he began his professional career in Ocala, Florida joining a prestigious law firm where he worked fourteen years as a trial lawyer before starting his own law firm, Daniel L. Hightower, P.A., in 1987.
During his professional career he served as a part-time Assistant State Attorney, served as President of the Marion County Bar Association and Chairman of the Marion County Grievance Committee of The Florida Bar. In 1988 he was appointed by Governor Bob Martinez to the Fifth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. In 2011, he was awarded The Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award. He was inducted into the Charter Class of the Florida Workers’ Compensation Institute Hall of Fame in 2012. He received the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award from Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida in 2017.
Over the last 43 years, Mr. Hightower has tried and settled many seven-figure injury cases and has a very high client satisfaction rate from past clients.
He holds an AV® Preeminent™ rating from the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory, the nation’s oldest lawyer peer review publication.
He is strongly committed to community service. He is a longtime supporter of the Southeastern Youth Fair, the Boy Scouts of America, Michelle-O-Gram breast cancer mission, United Way of Marion County, Florida, Interfaith Emergency Services, Veterans’ organizations, and various other community and statewide agencies.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family on his cattle ranch, the HT Ranch near Blitchton Florida. It is a working ranch that raises beef cattle and hay. He takes an active role in the ranch operations, penning and working cattle and raising and cutting hay. Dan says, "I may be a lawyer, but I still have callouses on my hands."
