Attorney David Perecman has spent the past 30 years working to establish himself as a premier New York City personal injury attorney, tackling cases around construction accidents, automobile accidents, premises accidents, false arrests, civil rights, employment discrimination and medical malpractice. Through his efforts in the courtroom, Perecman successfully secured millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements since he began practicing law, and helped The Perecman Firm be recognized as one of the Best Law Firms in America by the U.S. News and World Report every year since 2011. The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C.?s Beginnings Perecman has dedicated his career towards establishing himself as one of New York City?s most tenacious and skilled trial and personal injury attorneys. The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C. was initially founded after Perecman won a $600,000 verdict for his client who was falsely detained by Gimbels, the former department store, in 1983 after an antitheft alarm went off. ?Perecman has continued to fight for his clients, securing dozens of jury verdicts for injured clients and settling even more during trial. Perecman?s efforts in the courtroom have earned him a spot on New York Law Journal?s list of the Top Verdicts and Settlements?every year since 2005, including a $9.9 million settlement, the largest construction accident settlement in New York City in 2014, which was also the second largest settlement secured in the city that year. Perecman has earned himself the distinction of being one of the most highly regarded personal injury attorneys in New York, combining top-notch litigation skills and a tireless dedication towards preparing for his cases to secure the results his clients deserve. Associations, Education, Honors, and Recognition Perecman currently serves on the New York State Trial Lawyers Association?s (NYSTLA) board of directors and executive committee after previously serving as secretary and treasurer. NYSTLA also selected Perecman as chair of the Construction Accident Labor Law committee on multiple occasions since 2005, and has selected him to teach fellow personal injury attorneys in New York City on how to manage construction accident cases. His expertise is held in such high regard that he has also been invited to teach construction accident law to court personnel. Perecman has also handled cases that placed him into the national spotlight, including representing a woman who sued Vincent Pastore, best known for portraying the character Big Pussy in? The Sopranos , and for representing the family of 14-year-old ?Avonte? Oquendo, an autistic boy whose school permitted him to wonder off school grounds. His body was tragically discovered in the East River months later. ?Perecman, along with The Perecman Firm, continued his support of the family in the passage of ?Avonte?s Law. He remains politically active, fighting to ensure that laws protecting workers remain strong throughout New York.
