Widely recognized for her legal work, Ms. Cheng  has been listed among the Best Lawyers of America®, SuperLawyers® and San Francisco Best Lawyers.  She has been awarded Trial Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers of America.  She has been listed as one of the top 100 Trial Lawyers and among the top 50 women lawyers in Northern California.

Specializing in complex injuries caused by third party malfeasance, Ms. Cheng has obtained seven and eight figure settlements and verdicts on behalf of catastrophically injured plaintiffs.  She negotiated a global settlement of $14,250,000 on behalf of a burn victim who was working with a defective product.  She obtained an award in the amount of $13,500,000 for a gentleman who suffered brain injuries due to carbon monoxide poisoning.  She negotiated the largest civil rights settlement in the State of Arkansas on behalf of wrongful death heirs, whose father was fatally shot by a police officer.  She has also obtained other seven figure awards in cases involving dangerous condition of property, defective consumer products, medical negligence, and general negligence.

As part of the Rule of Law Initiative, Ms. Cheng has conducted training programs for trial lawyers and judges in Mexico, Kosovo, and Macedonia.  She has led trial skills programs in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Singapore, Antigua, Bahamas, Trinidad and Guyana.  She serves as the Program Director of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) Teacher Training Program.  She has served as a team leader and faculty member for numerous NITA advocacy training programs around the country.

Ms. Cheng has been elected to numerous executive positions in the legal community.  She is a Past President of the San Francisco Trial Lawyer Association.  She is the current President Elect of the Bar Association of San Francisco.  She is the Treasurer of the American Board of Trial Advocates (San Francisco Chapter) and a national representative of the board.  She has been inducted to the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers.  She is a member of the Kaiser Arbitration Oversight Board.

She is an adjunct professor and a member of the Board of Counselors at the University of San Francisco School of Law.  She has served as faculty at Emory University for its annual Kessler-Eidson Trial Techniques Program.  She previously served on the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where she continues to be regularly invited as a guest speaker to the international LLM students.

Ms. Cheng is a co-author of the eminent treatise, The Rutter Group California Practice Guide on Personal Injury, and the trial practice guide, Mastering the Mechanics of Civil Jury Trials.

A loyal alumnus of the University of San Francisco School of Law and San Francisco's Lowell High School, Ms. Cheng continues to serve these academic institutions. She previously coached moot court and mock trial teams, and headed the USF Inn of Court. For her service, she was awarded the law school's Jack Meehan Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2007.  She was a proud coach of the Lowell High School Mock Trial Team. In the past, she has also coached the Lowell High School summer league basketball team.
