Douglas grew up in the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina in the city of Bennettsville. After graduating from Clemson University and receiving a B.A. in Political Science, Douglas attended law school at the Charleston School of Law.
While a law student, Douglas served as Vice-President of the Student Trial Lawyers Organization and worked for the First Circuit Solicitor's Office and the Douglas Jennings Law Firm, LLC in Bennettsville, SC with his father.
While at Yarborough Applegate, Douglas has helped clients achieve successful results in cases involving tractor trailer collisions, bad faith (insurance) litigation, motor vehicle collisions, wrongful death lawsuits, medical malpractice, commercial/business litigation, and premises liability.
During this time, Douglas has litigated numerous complex civil cases which have resulted in multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements in both state and federal courts. He is based out of Charleston but maintains strong ties to his local community in the Pee Dee where he currently serves as co-counsel in many cases.
Douglas was selected in 2018 as a ‘Rising Star’ by Super Lawyers and awarded the Top 10 Under 40 in 2015 by the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys (NAOPIA) and the Top 40 Under 40 in 2017 by the National Trial Lawyers. He is active in the American Association of Justice (AAJ), the South Carolina Association of Justice (SCAJ), AAJ's Trucking Litigation Group, the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America (APITLA), the Charleston County Bar Association, and the James L. Petigru Inn of Court.
Douglas also serves on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit, Camp Happy Days, which assists young kids and families impacted by pediatric cancer with a variety of outreach and support programs.
Prior to attending law school, Douglas worked on Capitol Hill for a short time and then with Erwin-Penland, Inc., a marketing/advertising firm in Greenville, SC.
