Erin Jewell is a partner with Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein. Ms. Jewell was admitted to the Virginia State Bar and joined the firm in 2005. Since that time, she has focused her practice on representing asbestos victims and is passionate about seeking justice for her clients. Ms. Jewell primarily works on the asbestos trial team in preparing and trying cases to verdict in state courts. Ms. Jewell has also recovered workers' compensation benefits for asbestos victims and other injured persons before the Department of Labor and the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission, under the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act and the Virginia Workers' Compensation Act. She has served on trial teams involving multi-million dollar product liability verdicts, including verdicts reported as "Virginia's Largest Verdicts" in 2008 and 2012. Ms. Jewell has been recognized repeatedly by Virginia Super Lawyers magazine as a "Virginia Rising Star" (top 2.5% of Virginia Attorneys 40 years or younger or in practice 10 years or less) in 2010 and from 2013 through 2018. Ms. Jewell is admitted to practice in Virginia, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Ms. Jewell is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA) and the Newport News Bar Association. She is currently a member of the American Association for Justice's Board of Governors and has previously served as a State Delegate to the American Association for Justice. Ms. Jewell also serves on the Virginia Trial Lawyer's Association's Board of Governor. Ms. Jewell is the current Chair of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Women's Caucus, and has previously chaired VTLA's CLE and Diversity Committees. She is also a past Chair of VTLA's Young Trial Lawyers Section (2013-2014). Ms. Jewell has also previously spoken at the Virginia State Bar's First Day in Practice Seminar (2013) and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Seminar on Client Intake and Representation Agreements (2015) Ms. Jewell received her Bachelor of Arts from Old Dominion University in 2001. She received her Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law in 2005, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board and participated in several national moot court competitions. Ms. Jewell was the Second Best Preliminary Round Oralist in the John J. Gibbons Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition, Seton Hall School of Law (April 2005) and a Regional Semi-Finalist in the Association of the New York State Bar Moot Court Competition (Richmond - November 2004).
