Gary R. Johnson has been practicing as a personal injury lawyer since 1994. He started out as a defense attorney, representing major insurance and Fortune 100 companies. As the leading trial attorney for a Bend personal injury law firm, he then turned to advocating for those who were injured through no fault of their own. He has since used his extensive experience with insurance companies to help assure that his clients are fully and fairly compensated for their injuries.
Gary has tried and won numerous cases in the state and federal courts, and has argued cases before the State Court of Appeals. He has held a bar license in Oregon since 1993, Washington since 1996, and Arizona since 2022, and is licensed to practice before the US District Court and the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
His law firm has received the highest AV preeminent rating by Martindale Hubbell.
Philosophy Above all else, I believe in fairness. People harmed in car or slip and fall accidents should receive reasonable compensation for their injuries, and for the hassles they are forced to endure.
More and more, insurance companies are not honoring their commitments anymore. That frustrates me, and makes me work harder to ensure my clients are not taken advantage of. Fairness works both ways though. I also believe people should not try to recover unreasonable amounts just because they were injured.
Hobbies My hobbies have included coaching my kids’ sports teams, downhill and cross-country skiing, road and mountain biking, kayaking, running, swimming, and competing in the Pole, Pedal, Paddle and local triathlons. I believe that exercise is important for a healthy life and plays a vital role in helping people recover from injuries.
