Mr. Palmer grew up in Cedartown, Georgia. He received his undergraduate degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and his law degree from The George Washington School of Law in Washington, D.C. During law school, Mr. Palmer was on the Moot Court Board and won Best Brief, Best Oralist and Best Overall Competitor awards in the Van Vleck Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Palmer worked full-time as an insurance agent, representing small and medium sized trucking companies in their dealings with various insurance companies. It is this experience that inspired him to focus on insurance recovery law. Following law school, Mr. Palmer became an associate at Dickstein Shapiro in Washington, D.C. where he represented Fortune 100 companies and municipal policyholders in multi-million dollar disputes against insurance companies. In this capacity, he had a substantial role in several landmark cases. For example, he helped convince Maryland's highest court to rule that workplace exposure claims were not barred by the absolute pollution exclusion, one of only a few rulings of its kind. In the spring of 2007, Mr. Palmer returned to Georgia where he accepted a position at Kilpatrick Stockton in Atlanta. This position allowed him to grow his insurance coverage experience in a different context and focus on construction and data management clients. While at Kilpatrick Stockton, Mr. Palmer was involved in another landmark case. This case resulted in the Florida Supreme Court interpreting various insurance policy provisions and exclusions favorably to find coverage for a construction contractor. Now, Mr. Palmer is an attorney with Doffermyre Shields Canfield & Knowles, LLC where his practice extends beyond insurance coverage disputes to include general business disputes and complex civil litigation, including class action, products liability and personal injury cases. Mr. Palmer is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating an attorney can earn.
