Kate was born and raised in a small town in southeast Ohio.
She earned a bachelorâ€™s degree in gender & womenâ€™s studies from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and a master of public administration from the University of Baltimore. She then received her juris doctor from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. While in law school, Kate was the associate justice of the Moot Court Board, a member of the National Moot Court Team and Treasurer of Phi Alpha Delta.
Before opening her own law practice, Kate was an assistant district attorney with the Tuscaloosa County District Attorneyâ€™s Office and the Hale County District Attorneyâ€™s Office. As a prosecutor, Kate tried over a dozen felony cases to verdict and numerous misdemeanor bench trials.
Kateâ€™s philosophy in practicing law is that no one should have to navigate the courthouse by themselves: Whether youâ€™ve been accused of a crime or you find yourself in need of domestic relations litigation, you shouldnâ€™t have to go to court alone.
Her mission is to assist individuals and families navigate one of the most stressful times of their lives.
Kate is a member of the Celebrate Pro Bono Task Force of the Alabama State Bar, the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association of Alabama and the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association. In addition to her legal commitments, Kate is a Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR). When sheâ€™s not working, youâ€™ll find her enjoying downtown Tuscaloosa with her husband Will.
