For more than 40 years, Larry has been going up against companies whose defective products have hurt and killed unsuspecting people. Some of his notable verdicts include:
$26 million verdict in Buongiovanni v. General Motors Corporation against the car manufacturer for the defective design of a seat back that caused a client to suffer a spinal cord injury $20 million verdict in Connolly v. Dobbins, et. al. against a trucking company for carelessly stopping on a highway and causing the client to drive his car into the rear end of the tractor trailer, resulting in catastrophic brain injury $10.2 million verdict in Pursell v. Volkswagen for a passenger who was paralyzed $12 million verdict in Walker v. Schutt Sports Manufacturing for a high school football player who suffered a cervical neck injury
Founder of Two Influential Legal Organizations Larry helped establish and serves as the Chief Legal Officer of the Attorneys Information Exchange Group, a national organization dedicated to sharing information among attorneys to benefit clients harmed by dangerous and defective products. He is also a founding member and the first Chairman of the Institute for Injury Reduction. In these roles, Larry was an invited witness testifying to a Congressional Committee on motor vehicle safety, which led directly to the installation of lap and shoulder belts in the rear seats of all passenger cars.
Named a Top 100 Pennsylvania Lawyer
Larry was voted among the Top 100 Lawyers in Pennsylvania by Super Lawyers and has been included in the publication since 2011.
The American Association for Justice presented Larry with the 2010 Steven J. Sharp Public Service Award for his representation of thousands of consumers in a battle to prevent General Motors Corporation and Chrysler Corporation from escaping responsibility for the sale of defective products through the Bankruptcy Courts.
Larry received the 2009 and 2014 Attorneys Information Exchange Group Presidential Award for Outstanding Service in the Pursuit of Justice.
Accomplished Legal Background
Larry earned his law degree, cum laude, from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1973. He has represented clients in nearly every state in the U.S. against multi-national corporations marketing defective and unsafe products.
In addition to hundreds of articles in various publications, Larry has authored three books:
Crashworthiness Litigation, 2d, American Association of Justice, 2008. Products Liability Litigation: Product Studies?Chapters on Crashworthiness, Frontal, Restraint Systems, Seat Belts. Clark, Boardman and Callaghan, 1996. Pennsylvania Products Liability Guide, Bisel Publishing Co., 1993. Larry is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Arizona as well as in Federal District Court, before the U.S. Supreme Court and in the majority of the Federal Courts of Appeals. He has tried hundreds of jury trials for consumer victims in state courts across the United States.
Larry serves on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association as well as the Western Trial Lawyers Association the Attorneys Information Exchange Group. He continues to contribute to the education of future lawyers as an adjunct Professor at the ASU Law School.
