Attorney Lauren Cerri is recognized for pursuing justice for victims of childhood sexual abuse and the wrongful death of loved ones.

Representing Childhood Sexual Abuse Victims
Ms. Cerri works closely with victims and their families to ensure that the well-being of the children always comes first while working to hold accountable the institutions that failed to protect those children from childhood sexual abuse.

Recognizing what is most important to victims and their parents, Ms. Cerri fights for more than just monetary compensation, taking legal action to mandate that institutions implement and enforce policies and procedures and lobbying for state legislation to better protect children from sexual predators.

For example, in a case involving the Morgan Hill Unified School District that settled for $8.25 million, the school district was required to implement a student abuse prevention program and a staff training program to identify predators.

“Childhood sexual abuse cases are not just about compensating victims with money for their lifelong harm. A civil lawsuit allows us to work toward preventing future sexual abuse in schools, churches and other institutions responsible for failing to protect children from sexual predators,” Ms. Cerri said. “The reason we pursue these cases is to try to eliminate the problem and keep children safe.”

Proven Results
Trial attorney for one of four sexual abuse victims that settled for $15 million against the Evergreen School District.
Trial attorney in a case against a childcare provider that settled for $9 million.
From a sexual abuse survivor and former client:

Want to let you know I have made strides in growth and recovery. Even when I look back on everything I went through, I still see you as a pivotal supportive person that really helped me get through it all. Throughout all the people who've helped me, you are one of those rare ones where I felt our relationship was real. It was a special relationship that I needed, especially in the whole system of the legal stuff.

Representing Families in Wrongful Death Cases
Ms. Cerri also represents families who have lost loved ones a result of wrongful death including but not limited to those caused to motorists and pedestrians by dangerous roadways as well as car, truck, bicycle, and motorcycle collisions.

She has the unique ability to listen to her clients and communicate their story to a jury or a mediator. In a case where a Monterey County jury found that the State of California Department of Transportation failed to fix a dangerous highway condition on Highway 156, resulting in the collision and death of the young boy, Ms. Cerri elicited compelling testimony from eyewitnesses, first responders, and family members that helped the jury truly understand just how devastating the loss was to the family.

Proven wrongful death results
$9.3 jury verdict to the parents of a five-year-old Gilroy boy killed in a trucking accident.
$5.4 million for a child whose mother was killed by a box truck as she legally crossed the street.
$1.85 million for suicide of high school student sexually abused and bullied by classmates
“Helping people put their lives back together after trauma or tragedy is something I am very passionate about. It is the reason why I do this work,” states Ms. Cerri.

From the parents of a wrongful death victim and former client:

You are the absolute best and I am honored that you represented us in such a professional and humane fashion. I have the utmost respect for you as a person and a lawyer!

Ms. Cerri earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2002 from the University of Connecticut and her Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2008. She was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 2008 and the California Bar in 2012.

Before joining Corsiglia McMahon & Allard, L.L.C., she worked as an associate attorney at a Connecticut law firm that represented hundreds of childhood sexual abuse victims in civil cases against the Catholic Church and other religious organizations, as well as doctors, teachers, and family members.
