Mr. Masur practices in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death and workers' compensation. He has been recognized by his peers as among the top five percent of all Illinois lawyers in workers' compensation (“Super Lawyer”) and has received the highest rating for integrity by his peers. He is recognized as a leader in the field of work injuries and is widely respected for his knowledge and skill.

Education: He graduated from Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1982. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1986 and his law degree with distinction from John Marshall Law School in 1989.

Honors: He was named a "Super Lawyer" in 2012 by survey of his peers, signifying that he is among the top 5% of all Illinois lawyers in the field of Workers' Compensation.

Teaching: He has been a lecturer and moderator at continuing legal education programs in the area of workers' compensation sponsored by the Kane County Bar Association (KCBA). He is also chairman of the Worker's Compensation Committee for the Kane County Bar Association.

Significant Cases:
Obtained $1,050,000 in Kane County on behalf of the parents and siblings of an unmarried 24-year-old woman who died in an automobile accident.

Obtained $1 million policy limits in Kane County on behalf of the adult children of 66 and 67 year old parents who died in an automobile accident.

Obtained $750,000 in Kane County on behalf of the adult children of a 45 year old man who died in an automobile accident in which liability was seriously disputed.

Kus v Sherman Hospital (2d Dist. 1990) 204 Ill. App. 3d 66, 561 N.E.2d. 381: Successfully argued that it was error to deny plaintiff leave to file health professional report after trial court ruled that complaint against hospital sounded in healing art malpractice.

Professional Associations: Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ILTLA), the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), the Kane County Bar Association (KCBA) and the Illinois Workers' Compensation Lawyers Association (WCLA).

Personal: Mr. Masur was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, March 19, 1964. He is a resident of Naperville. He has been married to his wife, Terese, for more than 20 years, and they have three children, Markian, Alec and Hannah.

Community Involvement: Since obtaining his law degree, he has volunteered his time on an annual basis to serve as evaluator and judge in the John Marshall Law School National Trial and Moot Court Competition. He has coached youth sports in Naperville for years and is an active member of his church, having served as president of the governing board on numerous occasions.
