Michael Maxwell is a Seattle native who graduated from Bishop Blanchet High School and earned his bachelors degree from the University of Washington. Following that he attended law school at Northeastern University in Boston. Following law school he attended Georgetown University Law Center as an E. Barrett Prettyman fellow. He earned a rare LL.M in trial advocacy while supervising third year law students who tried criminal cases in superior court in Washington, DC.

Mike returned to Seattle where he worked as a public defender in King County. He defended people accused of crimes in King County Superior Court in Seattle and in Kent. He also defended the accused in district courts in Issaquah, Bellevue, Redmond, Kent, Burien, and Auburn.

Mike worked for a major insurance company for nearly three years learning the practice of insurance defense. There, he tried cases in Kitsap County in Port Orchard and Pierce County in Tacoma. He successfully defended a product manufacturer who made a climbing belt which allegedly failed, causing injury to a tree climber. He also defended a restaurant whose chicken was allegedly tainted with peanuts, causing anaphylactic shock to a customer.  That case was argued in the court of appeals.  He also argued a premises liability case in the court of appeals which is a leading case in the State of Washington regarding landlord liability for injuries to the guest of a tenant.

Following this, Mike decided his true passion was in the representation of injured people. He worked for nine years for a local personal injury firm. There, he tried cases in Tacoma, Port Orchard, Seattle, and Renton.
