Patrick Swan is a trial attorney in the downtown San Diego office. Mr. Swan's practice focuses on plaintiff-personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, fraud, and business litigation.

Mr. Swan graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Cognitive Neuroscience. Patrick returned home the following year to study law at the University of San Diego.

At the University of San Diego, Mr. Swan was a board member of USD Law's national appellate and international commercial arbitration moot court programs. He was also a writer and editor on USD Law's International Law Journal, and worked as a teaching assistant for first-year legal research and writing for Professor Gail Greene. Patrick also externed for the Honorable Cathy A. Bencivengo and Larry A. Burns for the Southern District of California, and clerked for the United States Attorney's Office in the Criminal Division, Appellate Section. Mr. Swan focused his time at school in trial work, taking classes in trial advocacy, evidence lab, scientific evidence, and judicial drafting. Mr. Swan also gained experience in mediation, receiving a CALI Award in Alternative Dispute Resolution and attending numerous mediations with our firm. Mr. Swan graduated from USD in 2015 with a keen interest in becoming a trial lawyer.

Mr. Swan has been a trial lawyer at Gomez Trial Attorneys since December 2015. In that time, he has worked extensively with Bibianne Fell and Jeremiah Lowe, Senior Trial Attorneys, and Jude Basile, Of Counsel, and helped obtain over $10 million in settlements for those injured by the wrongdoing of others. Mr. Swan has also obtained jury verdicts totaling over $113 million, including a $105,356,000 verdict in Kali v. Young and $7,000,000 verdict in Reyna v. ABTTC, Inc. Mr. Swan has also drafted several articles published in CASD's Trial Bar News and taught CLEs in written discovery, including topics of other similar incidents (OSIs) and Fifth Amendment issues. Mr. Swan also attended and graduated from ABOTA's National Trial College at Yale University in July 2018, and has been the firm's representative for USD's Big Give challenge since 2017.

Mr. Swan has been an adjunct professor at USD School of Law since 2016. He teaches advocacy in appellate moot court, and has coached teams that have competed in national competitions in San Francisco, CA, Malibu, CA, and Columbus, OH.

Mr. Swan is a San Diego native. He grew up in Point Loma and attended the Bishop's School in La Jolla for high school. He played three years of varsity baseball and soccer, and was awarded "Pitcher of the Year" for the Bishop's School in 2006. At age 15, as well, Mr. Swan hit a hole-in-one on the par-4, 280 yard fifth hole at Carlton Oaks in a charity scramble tournament.

When Mr. Swan has free time, he enjoys playing sports, cooking, and spending time with his wife, family, and two dachshunds. He loves going to Mammoth Lakes to snowboard and hike.
