Richard R. Alexander is an AV-rated attorney who draws on his deep roots as a prosecutor to bring a skilled, seasoned, and determined approach to his civil practice today. Rick sank his roots in trial skills with a four-year tenure as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit.  As a prosecutor, Rick sought justice for victims of crime: burglary, armed robbery, rape, and murder, including a death penalty trial. He honed his litigation strengths for ten years as a trial lawyer at the prominent trial firm, Coker, Schickel, Sorenson & Daniel, followed by two years at Schutt, Schmidt, and Noey. In 2010, he launched his own firm, the Alexander Law Practice. He deploys the tough trial focus he learned as prosecutor in his current work pursuing complex civil claims. He pursues personal injury cases involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability injuries occurring at businesses or apartments, representing crime victims in negligent security cases, and other non-traditional or complicated injury cases. He is not afraid to take on tough cases; in fact, he relishes it.

Mr. Alexander earned his J.D. degree from the University of Florida in 1994, where he had also completed both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Arts degree in History. While at the university, Mr. Alexander excelled in collegial activities and earned honors with a number of distinctions. His undergraduate years demonstrated a broad range of leadership roles in Sigma Chi, his fraternity, in the Interfraternity Council (the governing body of the fraternities), and the Preview staff, where he served as an ambassador for the university, introducing over 3,000 freshmen to campus and helping them register for their first classes. During his graduate studies in History, he earned a research assistantship as the Oral History Coordinator for the Oral History Project, Florida’s original oral history database. In law school, his innovative term as Divisions Coordinator propelled him into the presidency of Florida Blue KeyFlorida’s oldest, most active and most distinguished leadership honorary. When he graduated from law school in 1994, he was inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame, in recognition of his campus leadership activities and high scholastic achievements.

During his career, Mr. Alexander has continued this same high level of support for both the legal profession and the community. Highlights of his civic activities include his appointment by Governor Charlie Crist to the Fourth Judicial Nominating Commission, where he was part of a small panel that nominates judicial candidates to the Governor for appointment. Among other new programs, he has introduced a living will project as New Projects and Program Development Chairman for the Fourth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee. At All Saints Episcopal Church, Mr. Alexander currently serves the Head Verger, President of the Men of All Saints, Sunday school teacher, has served on the Vestry (lay leadership), including a consecutive term as Junior Warden. Currently, he is also leading the Solo and Small Firm Committee for the Jacksonville Bar Association.
