Rob Blake attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill as an undergraduate, where he pursued a double major in criminal justice and psychology. He graduated with honors in 1991.
Thereafter, Rob attended law school at Wake Forest University, where he was a member of the Scholastics Honor Society, an Editorial Board Member of the Wake Forest Law Review, and a legal research and writing teaching assistant. Rob graduated cum laude from Wake Forest Law School in 1994.
Following law school, Rob clerked for United States District Judge Graham C. Mullen (W.D.N.C.) from 1994 until 1996. While clerking for Judge Mullen, Rob was selected by United States Circuit Judge Wade Brorby for a clerkship on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Following a federal clerkship with The Honorable H. Brent McKnight in the Western District of North Carolina, Rob joined Wyatt & Blake in 1999.
The legal profession runs deep in Rob's family history and includes one of the most famous lawyers in United States history: John Adams, the Second President of the United States. Rob's middle name, Adams, is a tribute to the Adams family on Rob's father's side of the family, which includes relatives John Adams and his son, John Quincy Adams, the Sixth President of the United States.
Rob has received an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale Hubbell in the categories of White Collar Crime, Criminal Law, and Litigation, and has also been selected as a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers.
Rob is admitted to practice law in North Carolina and in the United States District Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of North Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Rob engages in a litigation practice in which he represents individuals and businesses in white collar criminal investigations, criminal cases, qui tam cases, class action litigation, and other civil litigation. Rob has also conducted internal investigations for hospitals, businesses and Boards of Directors for corporate clients. Rob’s representation of clients in civil litigation includes the representation of plaintiffs in both class action litigation and qui tam lawsuits. Rob has represented physicians, medical billing and coding personnel, and other employees of medical practices in qui tam whistleblower lawsuits filed under the federal False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Federal Physician Self-Referral Statute (or Stark Law), and the NC False Claims Act. These cases have involved issues of false and fraudulent billing of Medicaid and Medicare services, upcoding, improper referrals and illegal kickbacks.
