an individual for a loss in the area of personal injury—
is constantly under attack by those who have a financial
interest in avoiding responsibility for their negligence.
An attorney must be constantly vigilant so that his client
may be fully protected.

A 1974 graduate of the University of Michigan, Mr. Matz received a Bachelor of Arts degree with
High Distinction and Highest Honors. He earned a Juris Doctor degree in 1977 from the George Washington University National Law Center.

Mr. Matz is a member of the Bar of the States of Michigan, Colorado, Texas and Washington D.C. He is a member of the American and Michigan Associations of Justice having served on the latter's Executive Board. He also serves the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board as a Hearing Panel Chairman and has been appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court as a Master.

Mr. Matz lectures and publishes in a number of areas including ethics, marketing, client counseling, trial tactics and traumatic brain injury. His other professional affiliations include membership in Amnesty International and the American Civil Liberties Union.

Mr. Matz has been lead counsel in over 2000 civil litigation claims primarily involving motor vehicle, truck and motorcycle collisions. Special areas of interest include traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.

Mr. Matz has been rated AV Preeminent (highest rating possible) by the legal publication Martindale-Hubbell. He has been named by Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the top attorneys in Michigan.

When not in the courtroom Mr. Matz may be found climbing the tallest mountains on a number of continents. Recent peaks include Mt. Ararat, the Matterhorn, Mt. Kilimanjaro, El Pico de Orizaba and the North Col of Mt. Everest.
