Zach specializes in handling bad faith disability claim denials and has litigated cases against Unum, Cigna, the Standard, and Paul Revere. Over the course of his career, Zach has secured tens of millions of dollars in judgments and settlements in insurance, complex personal injury, and wrongful death lawsuits. His extensive experience also includes handling notable appeals with the Colorado Supreme Court, the Colorado Court of Appeals, and the 10th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. His work on this front includes a 2018 Colorado Supreme Court case that clarified the state’s insurance bad faith jurisprudence.
Highlights of Zach’s work representing clients in insurance disputes include a $4.8 million jury verdict against a supplemental health insurance company, a $2.2 million jury verdict against a liability insurance carrier, and an eight-figure settlement against an automobile insurer, among many others. Zach has also successfully litigated multi-million-dollar personal injury cases involving wheel separations, trucking collisions, construction site injuries, institutional sexual abuse, aviation crashes, medical negligence, premises liability, shootings, fires, and explosions.
Zach’s colleagues consistently recognize him as a leading trial attorney in multiple areas. He has repeatedly been voted by his peers for inclusion in 5280 Top Lawyers, Super Lawyers, The National Trial Lawyers, and Best Lawyers in America, including his recognition as the 2018 Lawyer of the Year for Insurance Litigation in Colorado.
Based on his extensive experience with complex insurance cases, Zach is a frequent speaker and author on a range of bad faith insurance and subrogation topics to other attorneys, insurance adjustors, government workers, and other professionals. Zach serves as the co-chair for the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association Insurance Bad Faith Committee. He also serves on the Legislative Committee of CTLA, which is the state’s largest specialty bar association. Zach earned his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s College and his law degree from Brooklyn Law School.
