Peter Meyers is a partner at Swanson Gardner Meyers Cohon, PLLC (SGMC), a highly respected personal injury, wrongful death, and medical negligence law firm in Renton, Washington. Peter focuses his practice on representing individuals who have been seriously injured or lost loved ones due to the negligence of others. His key practice areas include catastrophic auto accidents, traumatic brain injuries, defective products, and medical malpractice. He has spent his career holding corporations and government agencies accountable for negligence and misconduct.

Unwavering Commitment to Injured Washington Accident Victims & Families

Peter Meyers is well known for his meticulous approach to case preparation and unwavering commitment to his clients. He understands that each case is unique and requires a tailored strategy to achieve the best possible outcome. Peter's dedication to thoroughness and attention to detail is evident in his preparation for every case.

Peter and his law partners prepare every case assuming it will go to trial even if, ultimately, the client chooses to negotiate with the defendant. This comprehensive approach provides the client with a better view of options. It also helps to identify and obtain key evidence, anticipate potential challenges, and develop compelling arguments to support his clients' claims.

In his pursuit of justice, Peter collaborates closely with his partners, Todd Gardner and Dylan Cohon, to secure record-setting verdicts and settlements for their clients. One notable example of their success is a landmark $65.75 million settlement they obtained for the family of a high-earning professional who suffered permanent disabilities in a crash caused by a negligent city driver.

Peter was also instrumental in securing a $72 million jury verdict and additional recoveries totaling over $110 million on behalf of the family of college student Sarah Wong, who was killed when a tower crane collapsed and fell onto the vehicle she was riding in. Recently, Peter and Todd obtained a jury $16 million jury verdict against the State of Washington for its negligence in a roadway speed bump bicycle crash case

Recognition Beyond the Courtroom

Peter's extensive experience in the legal field is a testament to his credibility and expertise. A native of western Washington, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Washington in 1989 and his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 1993. After law school, he served as a Deputy Prosecutor in the Criminal Division of the King County Prosecuting Attorney's office from 1993 to 2000. During this time, he honed his trial skills, arguing numerous cases before King County juries, the Washington State Court of Appeals, and the Washington State Supreme Court.

Peter's achievements and recognitions are a testament to his professional standing and success. In 2010, he joined Swanson Gardner and became a partner in 2015. He is an invited member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (“ABOTA”) and has been repeatedly named a “Rising Star” and “Super Lawyer” since 2002. He has, for many years, maintained a top rating with other lawyer review publications.

Peter lives on Vashon Island with his longtime domestic partner Camille and their four dachshunds where they run a hobby farm (“Barking Dogs Farm”). He has an adult son, Joel Meyers, who lives in New York City and performs on Broadway.
