Veronica Rivas Mittino is a Senior Associate at Slater Slater Schulman, where she represents adult and child survivors of sexual abuse. Veronica's practice focuses on civil accountability for institutions, entities, platforms, and networks that enable child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Before joining Slater Slater Schulman, Veronica served as a Prosecutor at the Riverside County District Attorney's Office, assigned exclusively to the Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Unit, where she prosecuted complex, multi-victim sexual assault and child abuse cases with formidable advocacy — achieving guilty verdicts in every felony jury trial of her career, including guilty-as-charged verdicts in all but two sexual assault and child abuse cases. Prior to that assignment, she prosecuted domestic violence and serious and violent felony cases. She also clerked at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California, assisting federal prosecutors on RICO and VICAR murder cases. Her background spanning both state and federal prosecution gives her an intimate understanding of the barriers survivors face within the justice system and a resolute determination to dismantle them.

Veronica is deeply committed to the legal community and public service. Since 2020, she has served on the board of the Federal Bar Association's Inland Empire Chapter, most recently as Chapter President for the 2023 term, where she oversaw major programming, contributed to MCLE development, and has served on the California Delegation for the Capitol Hill Day committee advocating for national and local legislative initiatives affecting the federal judiciary since 2022. In 2025, she was appointed to the FBA's National Government Relations Committee, composed of members with substantial public policy experience. Veronica also served as a Director on the Riverside County Deputy District Attorney Association board from 2021 to 2023.

A sought-after speaker, Veronica has spoken at numerous events and academic institutions, including the Court and Legal Profession Symposium at Norco College, the Inaugural Latina Leaders Actualizing Agency Conference at Cal State San Bernardino, the University of La Verne College of Law Criminal Law Society's Symposium, the Inland Empire FBA Judges Night Event, and the University of Redlands. Her work has been published in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal.

Veronica earned her B.A. in Legal Studies and Organizational Leadership from Brandman University and her J.D. from the University of La Verne College of Law, where she was recognized for outstanding academic achievement with CALI Awards for Excellence in Trial Advocacy, Advanced Appellate Advocacy, Advanced Contracts, and Transactional Workshop. She also placed third in the nation at the 29th Annual National Moot Court Criminal Procedure Tournament at USD School of Law. Veronica joined Slater Slater Schulman in January 2024 and is licensed to practice in California state courts and the United States District Courts of the Central, Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of California.
