
As a licensed physician and attorney, Robert Messey, MD, JD, has invaluable experience in both law and medicine. As a surgeon, Dr. Bob performed general surgical procedures with a special interest in trauma, plastic, and reconstructive surgery for over a decade. Graduating first in his class at Quinnipiac University School of Law, he now represents patients harmed by car accidents, slip and falls, and medical malpractice. Dr. Bob applies his unique knowledge of law and medicine while representing clients in complex personal injury cases. He also has extensive expertise in evaluating and preparing all types of injury cases and medical malpractice actions, with special knowledge of general and orthopedic surgery, obstetrics and birth injury, and emergency room treatment.
Dr. Bob is highly regarded and frequently called upon by attorneys throughout the state for his ability to carefully analyze complicated medical-legal situations and explain how patient harm has occurred. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Quinnipiac University School of Law since 2000, where he teaches courses in Law & Medicine and was also asked to create and teach a course in Anatomy for Attorneys, which he has taught for the past few years. He has also lectured extensively to physicians, other healthcare providers, and attorneys on issues such as medical-legal topics, health law, injury and anatomy matters, bioethics, and medical malpractice.
Dr. Bob is admitted to practice law in Connecticut, New York, the U.S. Military Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a licensed medical doctor in Connecticut and is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine, and a member of the American Medical Association. In addition, he is an active member of the Connecticut and New York State Bar Associations, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice.
