John has passion and experience when it comes to representing the underdogs, litigating in court and winning righteous verdicts at trial.
John was a Senior Deputy Public Defender with the Colorado Public Defender’s office, where he tried more than three dozen jury trials and litigated hundreds of hearings. In addition to winning dozens of trials like DUI and assault, his case results include a complete acquittal in a justifiable homicide, a reckless manslaughter verdict where the state tried first-degree murder, and an outright dismissal in a first-degree murder case before trial.
John has since made the Pacific Northwest his long-term home. Beginning with the Snohomish County Public Defender Association, John defended clients against every level of felony. He won righteous dismissals at trial – including challenging charges like failure to register and rape –and not guilty verdicts in felony assaults and in two first-degree murder trials. Even in the most challenging circumstances, John allowed judges and juries to see the full picture.
More recently, John has used his passion for representing people with mental disabilities and litigating Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) cases.
