
José Gutiérrez Umana is an Associate Attorney at Antezana & Antezana, LLC, in the Workers’ Compensation Department. As a native Spanish speaker, José brings both personal understanding and professional experience to his advocacy, ensuring that his clients feel heard, empowered, and effectively represented throughout the workers’ compensation process.
Prior to joining Antezana & Antezana, José built a strong foundation in immigration law through his work at immigration-focused law offices. He has represented clients before the U.S. Department of Labor, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
José earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he served as a Law Clerk and later as a Student Attorney in the Immigrant Rights Clinic. He was also the Community Service Chair for the Latin American Law Students Association and an active member of the Immigration Law Association. José holds a master’s degree in Intercultural Communication and a bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages & Linguistics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he also taught Spanish as an Adjunct Professor.
José is licensed to practice law in Maryland and is committed to advocating for the rights of injured workers.
