An AV Rated attorney, Mr.Dougherty was one of only 55 attorneys in the United States invited to travel to Wyoming to attend Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College in 2006. For the length of his professional career, dating back to 1993, Mr. Dougherty has been involved with the justice system, initially working in law enforcement and now in the courts as an attorney. As a trial attorney he has tried a wide range of cases ranging from multiple 1st Degree Murder cases in criminal court to auto negligence and premises liability cases in civil court. He has appeared multiple times as a legal analyst on Fox News' On The Record with Greta Van Susteren.
Mr. Dougherty earned valuable trial experience with the Broward County Public Defender's Office. First, under long time Broward Public Defender, Alan Schreiber, then under current Broward Public Defender, Howard Finkelstein. He then went to work at a high profile immigration law firm in downtown Miami. He was then recruited to go work for one of the premier trial law firms in South Florida. There, Mr. Dougherty began actively practicing personal injury litigation, as well as, handling the firms white collar crime and serious felonies. From there, Mr. Dougherty was recruited to one of South Florida's largest personal injury firms as a trial lawyer. In 2012, Mr. Dougherty decided to set out on his own and bring the big law firm experience to a smaller boutique setting.
Mr. Dougherty has handled thousands of cases and recovered millions of dollars for his clients. He has handled semi-truck cases, motor vehicle collisions, premises liability cases, slip/trip and fall cases, wrongful death cases, elevator cases and various other types of negligence cases. Mr. Dougherty is also on faculty at the Keenan Ball College in Atlanta, GA where he has the great honor of working with and instructing some of the top trial lawyers from around the country.
