Andrew R. Walter is an experienced Elkhorn criminal defense lawyer practicing in Walworth County and leading appeals throughout Wisconsin. Andrew's experience includes his earlier work representing multinational corporations in state and federal litigation, and his current practice involving heading criminal appeals and criminal defense cases of all sizes. Andrew has been chosen by judges and other attorneys to serve as trustee and receiver in complex circuit court cases, nominated by Walworth County Circuit Court judges for various public service positions, and awarded for his work to guarantee quality representation for all criminal defendants in Wisconsin.
Andrew was chosen to serve as lead appellate lawyer in several prominent Wisconsin appellate cases involving criminal defense and DUI law. Several of his appellate victories have been featured in media including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Janesville Gazette, and Wisconsin Law Journal. Andrew has been the lead appellate attorney in multiple appellate decisions in favor of the defense, most notably including the published decision in State v. Sowatzke, 2009AP1990.
Andrew earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Arizona State University College of Law. While at Arizona State, Andrew was named a Pedrick Scholar and earned the Canby Moot Court Appellate Advocacy Award. Andrew also holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. While an undergraduate, Andrew was a member of the Political Science Honor Society and was a pitcher for the baseball team.
