Bartley Hagerman has been with Mehr, Fairbanks & Peterson since 2012.

​Bartley Hagerman focuses on insurance litigation, with an emphasis on personal injury, homeowners claims, disability insurance, and insurance bad faith. Prior to joining the firm, Bartley served as Law Clerk for Fayette Circuit Court Judge Thomas L. Clark. Bartley graduated cum laude from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in May 2011, where he was a member of the Law Review and the Environmental Law and Land Use Society. During his third year, Bartley was a student teacher in the Central High School Partnership, teaching a nationwide legal curriculum to Central High Law Magnet sophomores.

Bartley is a proud member of the Kentucky Justice Association, an organization dedicated to achieving justice for all Kentuckians. Bartley was born in Lexington, Kentucky and has lived most of his life in Lexington, although he practices cases all over Kentucky. When he is not practicing law, Bartley enjoys spending time with his family, running, and playing guitar.

Mr. Hagerman handles a wide variety of insurance-related matters, representing primarily plaintiffs. He handles personal injury claims such as motor vehicle collisions and premises liability claims. He also handles homeowners insurance claims and all types of insurance coverage disputes.

Mr. Hagerman litigates insurance bad faith claims in Kentucky, which are typically governed by Kentucky’s Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act (KRS 304.12-230). Bad faith claims can arise in many types of insurance disputes.

Additionally, Mr. Hagerman practices cases under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), a federal law governing many employee benefit plans. Under the ERISA umbrella, Mr. Hagerman has handled life insurance claims, disability insurance claims, health insurance claims, and accidental death and dismemberment claims.
