C. Shelbi Danner is the founder and managing attorney of C.S. Danner Law, LLC, a Colorado law firm representing clients in criminal defense, personal injury, and civil rights matters.
Shelbi has focused on criminal defense since beginning her legal career, first gaining experience through public defender internships, capital defense work, and federal habeas work while in law school. After graduating in 2020, she began her career as a Colorado public defender before entering private practice, where she spent approximately four years representing clients in criminal and civil matters. In June 2026, she founded C.S. Danner Law.
Shelbi is an experienced courtroom advocate who has participated as counsel in approximately 15 trials, including numerous criminal jury trials and a federal civil bench trial. Her trial experience includes multiple complete acquittals, a partial acquittal in a DUI and weapons prosecution, serious felony litigation, and a week-long murder trial. Her broader criminal litigation experience includes successfully defending an appeal involving a dismissal based on outrageous governmental conduct, post-conviction proceedings under Crim. P. 35(c), winning a reverse-transfer hearing in a murder case, and extensive experience litigating suppression motions and other contested evidentiary hearings.
In addition to representing privately retained clients, Shelbi remains committed to indigent defense. She serves as contract and appointed counsel through the Colorado Office of Alternate Defense Counsel in Adams and Broomfield Counties and the municipal courts of Westminster and Northglenn.
Shelbi's civil practice includes motor vehicle collisions, premises liability, civil rights, and other serious personal injury matters. Before founding C.S. Danner Law, she also worked on medical malpractice litigation and civil litigation on behalf of survivors of sexual assault, including litigation involving the dating platform Hinge. She was interviewed by Denver7 in connection with that representation.
Shelbi is admitted to practice in Colorado and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. She is a member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, Colorado Women's Bar Association, and Women's Trial Lawyers Network.
