Carl R. Varnedoe is a co-founder of Varnedoe Thompson, LLC and focuses his practice on personal injury and wrongful death claims. Located in Savannah, Georgia, Carl is privileged to represent victims of other’s negligence locally and throughout the state, including along major tractor-trailer trucking corridors like I-16, I-75, and I-95. Carl is a 1999 graduate of the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and a 2003 graduate of Mercer University School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor.
Before returning home to the Georgia coast, Carl practiced with a prominent Atlanta-based litigation boutique and subsequently with a 600 plus lawyer firm based in Memphis, Tennessee. During this 7 plus year stint, Carl learned from and worked alongside some of the country’s best and brightest trial lawyers. Having honed his skills in and out of the courtroom, Carl returned to his hometown of Hinesville and immersed himself into trial work on behalf of injured parties and families who lost a loved one because of someone else’s mistake or intentional wrongdoing.
Carl’s practice includes trucking, commercial vehicle, tractor-trailer, 18-wheeler wrecks, motor vehicle crashes, catastrophic injuries, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, wrongful death, premises liability, slip and fall and trip and fall, medical and nursing home malpractice, bicycle wrecks, pedestrian versus vehicle wrecks, motorcycle wrecks, negligent security, and civil rights deprivation. Carl has tried multiple cases to a jury’s verdict with combined verdicts in excess of $50 million. This is in addition to over $100 million in negotiated settlements. Carl has represented numerous clients in State, Superior and Federal District Courts throughout Georgia and before the Georgia Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Georgia.
Carl has been recognized as one of the top lawyers in Georgia and named a Super Lawyer in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. This honor is limited to the top 5% of the total lawyers in Georgia. The National Trial Lawyers has recognized Carl as a Top 40 under 40 and Top 100 Trial Lawyer.
