Charles Maurice Stam is a partner in the firm’s Houston, Texas, office. Charles majored in history and political science at Columbia College in New York City and obtained his law degree with honors from The University of Texas School of Law. While studying law in Austin, he served on the editorial board of The Review of Litigation and interned for the Honorable Xavier Rodriguez, a United States District Judge sitting in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating, he clerked in the Mississippi Delta for the Honorable Debra M. Brown, Chief Judge of the Northern District of Mississippi.
Charles represents plaintiffs with a focus on personal injury and complex commercial litigation. He has achieved significant recoveries, including several in the seven and eight figures, in premises liability, commercial transportation, and breach of contract/fraud claim. In recognition of these achievements, Charles is a member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He has been recognized as a “Texas 40 under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers and a “Texas Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, a Thompson Reuters publication. Charles also holds a “Superb” rating on Avvo.
Charles is admitted to practice law in all the state and federal courts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Charles sits on the Board of Directors of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys, and the National Association of Premises Liability Attorneys.
