Mr. Murphy grew up in Long Island, New York. After graduating from Chaminade Catholic High School, he moved to DC to attend The Catholic University of America where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. Motivated by a deep desire to advocate for those who could not fight for themselves, Mr. Murphy enrolled at The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law where he focused his studies on litigation techniques and competed as a member of the school’s National Trial Team. He served as President of one of the largest student organizations, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and was a member of the Thurgood Marshall Inn of Court. He graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2010 and was admitted to practice law in Maryland (2010) and The District of Columbia (2012).
As an attorney, Mr. Murphy worked for several years as a contractor with many top law firms in DC assisting them with discovery issues in large scale Antitrust, intellectual property, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act litigation. After years assisting corporate clients, Mr. Murphy felt called back to his wish to assist individual people struggling for justice in the difficult legal system. For that reason, he joined Alpert Schreyer Poe in 2017.
As an attorney with Alpert Schreyer Poe, Mr. Murphy has represented hundreds of our clients in their Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury matters. With careful listening and compassion, Mr. Murphy advises our clients through the nuances of our complex legal system as well as how to avoid the many tricks that Insurance company’s use to deny or undervalue claims and attempt to withhold payment of benefits from deserving victims. Mr. Murphy brings his experience and knowledge to fight these insurance companies and force them to negotiate settlement agreements in favor of our clients. When the Insurance company refuses to pay, Mr. Murphy fights for our clients before the Maryland courts in order to achieve favorable judgments to compensate our clients for the harm that they have suffered.
When not fighting for injured clients, Mr. Murphy enjoys time with friends and family, being active in his Catholic Faith community, Service as a member of The Order of Malta, and playing music with friends as a singer and guitar player.
