Courtney received her undergraduate degree in pre-law from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2013. While attending SIU, she interned at the Jackson County Public Defender’s Office where she learned how to defend felony cases for people accused of crimes ranging from theft to first degree murder.
Courtney then attended the John Marshall Law School (now called University of Illinois Chicago School of Law) in Chicago. While attending law school, Courtney volunteered at the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic and helped victims of domestic violence obtain emergency orders of protection. Courtney was also an active volunteer with CASA of Cook County – advocating on behalf of abused and neglected children throughout the Chicagoland area.
Following graduation from law school, Courtney practiced law at a downtown Chicago law firm in their personal injury department. During that time, Courtney had many successful outcomes for many clients, obtaining total compensation for her clients in excess of $12,000,000. After 5 years of focusing on personal injury law, Courtney moved home to Decatur to join BRE Law as a Partner.
At BRE Law, Courtney handles personal injury, family and divorce, and criminal defense cases mostly.
Courtney is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Decatur Bar Association.
Courtney is licensed to practice law in all Illinois state courts as well as the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois.
Courtney handles cases throughout central Illinois including Macon County, McLean County, Moultrie County, Logan County, Shelby County, Piatt County, Sangamon County, and Christian County.
