
Derek A. Reams Esq. is a Board-Certified Civil Trial Attorney and seasoned courtroom advocate who has devoted his career to representing individuals and families facing the most serious personal injury and wrongful death cases. Mr. Reams concentrates his practice on high-stakes motor vehicle litigation—including automobile, motorcycle, pedestrian, and commercial trucking accident as well as complex medical malpractice cases.
A native Floridian born in Tallahassee; Mr. Reams brings a competitive drive to the courtroom that was shaped early in life. He competed in collegiate baseball at Florida State University and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He later received his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law (Ole Miss), graduating with honors in December 2001.
Mr. Reams began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, serving from 2002 through 2005. There, he developed the trial skills and courtroom confidence that continues to define his legal practice today. With more than 80 jury trials throughout Florida, he is widely regarded as a disciplined, meticulously prepared, and formidable trial lawyer.
In 2013, Mr. Reams achieved the Florida Board Certification in Civil Trial Law after completing the required written examination and receiving endorsements from peers and members of the judiciary. This distinction is held by fewer than three percent of attorneys licensed in the State of Florida and reflects the highest level of professional recognition for trial attorneys.
Derek A. Reams is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Florida, including the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal.
